GTA 6 Xbox Series S: Price, Storage and What Rockstar Lists

GTA 6 Xbox Series S: is the game coming to it?

Yes. Grand Theft Auto VI is sold for Xbox Series X|S, so GTA 6 Xbox Series S owners are covered by the same listing. The official Xbox store page, checked on October 2, 2026, shows a badge reading "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S" and a release date of November 19, 2026.

That date matches what Rockstar announced on November 6, 2025, when it moved the game to November 19, 2026. We found no newer delay when we searched on October 2. Rockstar lists two console families and nothing else: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no announced PC version.

What the store page and Rockstar do not give you is any detail on how the game runs on the smaller console.

What resolution and frame rate will GTA 6 run at on Series S?

Rockstar has not said. It has published no resolution, no frame rate target and no graphics modes for the Series S. The Xbox listing does not list them either.

Numbers do circulate. Some come from forum posts, some from video channels that compare the console's power to other games, some from leaks. None of them come from Rockstar or Microsoft, and we treat all of them as guesses. We will not repeat a figure here, because repeating a number tends to make it look settled.

The broader question of frame rate on every console is tracked in our page on whether GTA 6 runs at 30fps or 60fps. If Rockstar publishes Series S figures, that is where they will be added first.

One on-record comment does exist. On a Take-Two earnings call in November 2024, chief executive Strauss Zelnick addressed the Series S. GamingBolt and ComicBook both reported his answer, which included the line "I'm not really worried." He said Take-Two's labels find ways to support platforms with different levels of hardware. That is a statement of confidence from the publisher's boss. It is not a spec sheet, and it says nothing about resolution or frame rate.

How much storage does GTA 6 need on Xbox Series S?

The install size question has its own page, which tracks what Rockstar and the stores list as the date gets closer: GTA 6 file size and what the stores show. We do not repeat a number here because nothing here should drift out of date in two places.

What we can say from Microsoft is the size of the console's drive. Microsoft's Series S page lists two models: one with a 512GB custom NVMe SSD and one with a 1TB custom NVMe SSD. If you own the 512GB model and already have a few large games installed, check your free space before pre-load opens.

Pre-load is scheduled for November 12, 2026, one week before launch. That is the day the download can start, so having space ready by then matters more on a smaller drive.

Can you play the GTA 6 physical edition on Xbox Series S?

The Series S has no disc drive. Microsoft's own page says the console is all-digital and that disc-based games are not compatible.

For this game that may matter less than usual. Rockstar said on June 24, 2026 that physical copies of GTA VI hold a download code, not a disc. Boxed copies go on sale on November 12, 2026. A code-in-a-box edition does not need a drive to read it. If you buy one for a Series S, make sure the box is the Xbox Series X|S version, not the PS5 one. The details are in our report on the GTA 6 physical edition and its download code.

GTA 6 Xbox Series S price: is it cheaper?

No. It costs the same as on PS5. Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 at 79.99 USD for the Standard Edition and 99.99 USD for the Ultimate Edition. The Xbox store page shows those prices, and the PlayStation product page lists the same two prices for PS5. The listing shows no separate, cheaper Series S edition.

The Xbox listing also says pre-orders include the Vintage Vice City Pack and one month of GTA+. What sets the two editions apart is covered in our Standard vs Ultimate Edition guide.

Subscription questions are tracked separately in our page on whether GTA 6 is on Game Pass.

Is GTA 6 coming to Xbox One?

No. Rockstar has announced the game only for Xbox Series X|S and PS5. There is no Xbox One version and no PS4 version, and the Xbox store listing names Xbox Series X|S only. If you are still on an Xbox One, the Series S is the lowest Xbox model that the listing covers. More on this in GTA 6 on PS4 and Xbox One.

Will GTA 6 have cheats on Xbox Series S?

Nobody knows yet. Rockstar has published nothing about cheats in GTA VI, on any platform. VI Cheats has verified no GTA VI code. Any Xbox button sequence posted online today for GTA VI is unverified.

In GTA V, cheats lasted only for the session. Reloading a save or restarting the game turned them off. Rockstar Support said for GTA V that saving is allowed with cheats on, but achievements are temporarily disabled. That is GTA V's behaviour, and nothing says GTA VI will copy it. Our GTA 6 cheats hub adds a code only after it has been checked in the released game, and none has been so far.

VI Cheats is independent and not affiliated with Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive or Microsoft.

Is GTA 6 on Xbox Series S?

Yes. The Xbox store lists Grand Theft Auto VI for Xbox Series X|S with an "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S" badge and a November 19, 2026 release date.

Does GTA 6 run at 60fps on Xbox Series S?

Rockstar has not published a frame rate or resolution for any Xbox model. Figures you see online are guesses or leaks.

Can I play GTA 6 on Xbox Series S without a disc drive?

Yes. Digital copies need no drive, and Rockstar said physical copies hold a download code rather than a disc.

Is GTA 6 cheaper on Xbox Series S?

No. The Xbox store shows 79.99 USD for Standard and 99.99 USD for Ultimate, the same prices the PlayStation page lists.
