The GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition difference is twenty dollars and a list of add-on items. Standard is the base game at $79.99. Ultimate is $99.99 and stacks extra vehicles, weapons, clothing, tattoos, several shops and two side jobs on top of the same game. Those prices come from the June 2026 announcement reporting at Gematsu and VideoCardz. The Rockstar Store section we loaded on 2026-09-18 listed the editions without showing prices, so those figures are the press's, not a line printed on Rockstar's own store page.

What is the GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition difference?

One is the game. The other is the game plus a content pack, sold as a single SKU.

Rockstar's pre-order Newswire post from June 2026 frames the Ultimate Edition around premium vehicles, weapons and apparel threaded across Jason and Lucia's story. That is marketing copy. The store listing is more useful, because it itemizes, and the itemized list is what you should judge the $20 on.

There is no third tier. Reporting around the announcement said there is no Special or Collector's Edition, which matches the storefronts, though that is secondary sourcing rather than a Rockstar denial.

What does the Ultimate Edition actually add?

Taken from the Rockstar Store and PlayStation and Xbox product listings as itemized in the June 2026 announcement coverage, checked 2026-09-18, the extras break into five buckets.

  • Vehicles: the '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with the Paradise Garage, the '95 Grotti Cheetah, a Shitzu Squalo boat, and a set of vehicles at Jason's safehouse including a Dinka Enduro, a Crest Kayak and a modified Vapid Ganado.
  • Weapons: a his-and-hers pair of Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers with Vice City detailing, plus a personalized pistol for each character, a Girardi ES9 for Jason and a Klose K17 for Lucia.
  • Shops: Rideout Customs and One-Eyed Willie's mod shops, the Stock 305 clothing store, Sara's Unisex Salon and the Electric Fang Tattoo parlor, the last of which the listing credits with over 50 exclusive tattoo designs.
  • Apparel: the Goodtime Gear collection, plus Vice City outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia.
  • Jobs: the PTT Youngin$ Compound raid, and a classic car collection strand where you recover and restore abandoned cars.

That is the whole list. Notice what is not on it. Nothing in it is a story chapter, an ending, a main-story mission or a map region. That is a reading of the contents list, not a Rockstar statement comparing the editions, because Rockstar has not published one. And two of those entries are playable side jobs, so calling the whole thing cosmetic would be wrong in the other direction. Side content and cosmetics, plus two side jobs. Not the main story.

Do you get the Ultimate content on day one?

No. The extras are not sitting in your garage when the game boots.

Rockstar's own framing is that the items are threaded across the story and uncovered behind each chapter, which means the Ultimate extras arrive as you play. If your reason for paying $99.99 is to drive a Grotti Cheetah on launch night, the listing does not promise that. Rockstar has not published an unlock schedule, so the exact points at which each item appears are unknown.

Can you upgrade from Standard to Ultimate later?

Rockstar says yes, and a separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade has its own store page. It is on sale now on Xbox. On PlayStation the listing exists but has not opened.

The Rockstar Store page carries the line "Upgrade to the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation Store at any time", read 2026-09-18. The Xbox Store lists Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition Upgrade at $20.00, flagged as requiring the base game, read the same day. The PlayStation Store carries the same upgrade SKU with the same base-game requirement, but on 2026-09-18 it showed no price and read "Not available for purchase", dated to the November 19 release. So the upgrade is a real product with its own store page on both platforms, and on Xbox it is priced at exactly the $20 gap between the editions. On PlayStation the listing is up but not yet on sale, and Rockstar has published no PlayStation price for it. If you are buying on PS5, you are taking Rockstar's store copy on trust until that listing opens.

Three caveats. The upgrade is a digital add-on tied to your platform account. Neither listing states a deadline, but a line of store copy is not a contract, and storefront terms change. And $20.00 is an Xbox price, so nobody should assume the PlayStation upgrade arrives at the same number.

Is the Vintage Vice City Pack an edition difference?

It is not. The Vintage Vice City Pack is a pre-order bonus, and both editions get it.

The Rockstar Store lists it at no additional cost on orders placed before November 20, and the pack itself is a '55 Vapid Stanier with a garage, outfits and hairstyles for both characters, and a weapon pattern. Digital orders on either edition qualify. The June 2026 reporting says physical pre-orders get it while stocks last, so physical buyers should not count on it.

The separate free month of GTA+ is narrower. PlayStation's own offer terms page, read 2026-09-18, limits it to digital purchases of either edition before November 20, 2026, once per account, claimable through March 31, 2027, and it rolls into a paid subscription unless you cancel. Physical buyers are not covered by those terms. Rockstar's store page lists the GTA+ month against both editions, and the June 2026 reporting says digital buyers on the Microsoft Store are covered too, but Microsoft publishes its own terms and we have not read them, so Xbox buyers should check theirs rather than assume PlayStation's apply.

For the ordering dates, the pre-load date and the no-disc physical box, see our GTA VI pre-order and pre-load dates piece.

Does either edition change cheats, saves or trophies?

There is no cheat difference between the editions, because there is no documented GTA VI cheat system at all.

As of 2026-09-18, Rockstar has published nothing about cheats in Grand Theft Auto VI: no Newswire post, no support article, no FAQ line. Nothing in either edition's itemized contents is a cheat, a trainer, a console command or a money option. Any page telling you the Ultimate Edition unlocks cheat codes is inventing it. Our GTA V cheat reference, labeled unverified for GTA VI, keeps that distinction explicit, and the money cheat evidence check explains why an invented money code is the most common version of this particular lie.

VI Cheats is an independent fan publication. We are not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive, we do not sell either edition, and we earn nothing from the storefronts named here. See our disclaimer.

What do the other edition comparisons get wrong?

Three things, repeatedly.

They disagree on counts. Different breakdowns give different totals for vehicles, weapons, shops and missions, because the storefront copy groups items rather than numbering them. We are not linking those pages, and we are not giving a count of our own for the same reason: any tidy number is somebody's arithmetic on a marketing list, not a figure Rockstar published.

They present the extras as day-one content. The listings say the opposite.

And a few still say no upgrade path exists. One does, it has its own store page, and on Xbox it is on sale at $20.00.

Rockstar's game page still lists November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, checked 2026-09-18, with no PC version announced. The current release date and platform listing has the detail.

Is the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition worth $20 more?

That depends on whether unlockable vehicles, weapons, apparel, five shops and two side strands are worth $20 to you. The story and the map are the same either way, based on what each edition itemizes. On Xbox the upgrade costs the same $20 later, so the low-risk order there is Standard first. On PlayStation that reasoning has a gap, because the upgrade is not on sale yet.

Can I buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade after launch?

The Rockstar Store says you can upgrade at any time. On Xbox the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is live now at $20.00 and requires the base game. On PlayStation the same SKU is listed with the same requirement but is not yet on sale and shows no price, dated to the November 19 release. Neither listing states an expiry. Store terms change, so check your own platform before relying on it.

Does the Standard Edition include the Vintage Vice City Pack?

Yes, as a pre-order bonus rather than an edition feature. The Rockstar Store lists it at no additional cost on orders placed before November 20, for Standard and Ultimate alike. The extra free month of GTA+ is limited to digital purchases and has its own terms on PlayStation's support site.

Is there a GTA 6 Collector's Edition?

None has been announced. Reporting from June 2026 said the line-up is Standard and Ultimate only, and the storefronts list those two plus the upgrade. That is secondary reporting, not a Rockstar statement ruling one out, so treat any site selling a Collector's Edition today as unverified.
