Will GTA 6 have mods?
No, not at launch. GTA 6 ships on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and no Rockstar game supports mods on those consoles. Rockstar has not announced a PC version, which is the only place its games have ever had a mod scene.
That is the answer to "will GTA 6 have mods" as of October 21, 2026. Below: the platform listings we read today, the Mod Guidelines Rockstar posted in September, what they do and do not say about GTA 6, and why anything offered today as a "GTA 6 mod menu" cannot be what it claims.
What platforms is GTA 6 on, and why does that settle it?
We re-read both first-party store pages on October 21, 2026. The PlayStation US page lists PS5 (PS5 Pro Enhanced), November 19, 2026, $79.99 Standard, $99.99 Ultimate, "1 player", and the line "Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience." The Xbox US page lists Xbox Series X|S only, 11/19/2026, the same two prices, "Optimized for Xbox Series X|S" and "Single player". Neither page lists PC or Windows for the game.
PC is the open question. On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported, citing four unnamed sources, that Rockstar is targeting a PC version in the first quarter of 2027. Rockstar did not respond to a request for comment, PCWorld noted on October 14. That is an unconfirmed report. No Rockstar, Sony, Microsoft or Take-Two page lists a PC version today. The full history of the PC question is in GTA 6 PC release date: why there is none yet.
What do Rockstar's Mod Guidelines actually say?
Rockstar posted a "Mod Guidelines" page (its URL sits under community-resources) on September 10, 2026, according to Game Developer, which reported on it on September 22. The page itself renders no text to our fetcher, so the lines below are as reproduced by MP1st (Alex Co, September 21) and Game Developer (Chris Kerr). Five of them matter for this question.
- "Do not modify our games to operate on consoles, hardware devices, or other platforms" where Rockstar has not officially released them.
- "Multiplayer modding is limited to Rockstar Games' official licensed Creator Platform", unless Rockstar licenses it directly.
- "Do not create, share, or use cheat menus or other software that interferes with Rockstar Games' official multiplayer", its online services or the Creator Platform.
- "Do not expand or modify Rockstar Games' official storylines, plots, missions, characters" or other parts of its established continuity.
- "You may only monetize your mods via digital storefront providers approved by Rockstar Games".
Game Developer also quotes bans on using other people's protected intellectual property, on reusing voiceover performances from any Rockstar game, and on real-money gambling, loot boxes or cryptocurrency inside mods. MP1st adds a line against mixing maps, characters or assets from one Rockstar title into another.
Do the Mod Guidelines apply to GTA 6?
Not by name. Inven Global reported on September 21 that GTA 6 is not directly mentioned in the document and that the policy is not aimed at a specific game. Game Developer says the guidelines apply to existing releases such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
So any line you read about what the guidelines mean for GTA 6 is inference, including ours. The guidelines are written for all Rockstar titles, and GTA 6 is a Rockstar title. If a PC version ever exists, the guidelines as written would cover it: no porting to hardware Rockstar has not released it on, no unofficial multiplayer, no cheat menus that touch online services. That is a reading of a general policy, not a Rockstar statement about GTA 6. Rockstar has said nothing about GTA 6 mods specifically, and nothing about cheats in GTA 6 at all.
The precedent, labelled as such: GTA V has a PC version with a mod scene, and Rockstar's new rules now apply to that game, per Game Developer. That shows how Rockstar treats a PC version once one exists, and nothing more.
Is a GTA 6 mod menu real?
No. A mod modifies a game's files. No copy of GTA 6 has been distributed to players until pre-load opens on November 12, 2026, and the game does not unlock until November 19. Anything offered today as a GTA 6 mod menu, mod pack or "early mod" is not a mod of this game, because there is no game to modify.
After launch the position does not improve. The consoles do not run user mods, and the Mod Guidelines bar cheat menus and any software that interferes with Rockstar's online services. VI Cheats does not host, test or point to such files. Why a GTA 6 trainer does not exist and GTA 6 cheat menu: what Rockstar has shipped in past games explain the difference between those tools and the cheat codes Rockstar built into earlier titles. Rockstar has published nothing about cheat codes in GTA 6, and VI Cheats has verified no code; the current status is on the GTA 6 cheats page. What Rockstar might run against unauthorised software on console is covered in GTA 6 anti cheat: what Rockstar has and has not said.
Will GTA 6 have mods on PC?
Nobody can say, because there is no PC version to have them. Rockstar would first have to announce one and ship it. Only then would it become clear whether the current Mod Guidelines cover it or a new policy replaces them.
If the guidelines stay as they are, a PC GTA 6 would allow offline single-player mods that stay inside the rules above. Unofficial multiplayer and cheat menus that interfere with Rockstar's services would not be permitted, and paid mods would be limited to approved storefronts.
The GamesBeat report of a first-quarter 2027 PC target would, if true, bring all of this closer. It remains an unconfirmed report from unnamed sources.
What would change this answer?
- A Rockstar Newswire post or official store listing naming PC. The answer moves from "no" to "not on console, PC pending".
- A Rockstar statement that names GTA 6 in the Mod Guidelines or in a new modding policy.
- Any announced creator or user-generated-content feature inside GTA 6 itself. Rockstar has announced none.
A new report from unnamed sources would not change it, and neither would a leaked file. When one of the real triggers lands, this page gets the source and the date we read it, and the question "will GTA 6 have mods" gets a new answer.
Can you mod GTA 6 on PS5?
No. No Rockstar game on PS5 supports user mods, and nothing Rockstar or Sony has published describes mod support in the PS5 version.
Are there GTA 6 mods on Xbox?
No. The Xbox Series X|S listing describes a single-player game with no mod or creator feature, and no Rockstar title on Xbox supports user mods.
Is there a real GTA 6 mod menu?
No. The game is not out, so nothing can modify it. Files sold or shared under that name today are not mods of GTA 6, and after launch the consoles still do not run mods.
Will GTA 6 mods be allowed on PC?
There is no PC version, announced or dated. If one ships under the September 2026 Mod Guidelines, the limits in the PC section above would apply to it.
