Rockstar Games has published nothing about a GTA 6 cheat menu. No Newswire post, no support article, no FAQ entry, nothing in the Extended Look. A domain-restricted search of rockstargames.com and support.rockstargames.com on September 16, 2026 returned no Rockstar page on cheats in Grand Theft Auto VI, let alone a menu for them.
That does not make the question empty. Rockstar has shipped an in-game cheat menu before, in Red Dead Redemption 2, and it works nothing like the way GTA V handled cheats. Three shipped designs are the only real evidence anyone has: RDR2, GTA V, and GTA IV before them.
Has Rockstar confirmed a cheat menu in GTA 6?
No. Rockstar's official game page at rockstargames.com/VI, read September 16, 2026, lists "Coming November 19, 2026", the platforms PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, and a pre-order button. It says nothing about cheats. The same search returned nothing on cheats from the Newswire post that set the November date, published November 6, 2025.
There is no confirmed entry method for Grand Theft Auto VI. No menu, no button sequence, no typed phrase, no phone number. There is not even a confirmed statement that the game contains a cheat system. Pages telling you otherwise are guessing, and we set out why in our note on GTA VI cheat code status.
What Rockstar's cheat menu in Red Dead Redemption 2 does
RDR2 is the shipped example. Pause the game, open Settings, and in the bottom right of that screen sits a Cheats option. Press Triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox to open it, press again for a text box, and type a phrase. The same menu path exists on PS4, Xbox One and PC, though on PC you click the Cheats entry rather than press a face button. GamesRadar's RDR2 cheat guide and RDR2.org both describe it that way.
You do not start with the phrases. In RDR2 they are printed in in-game newspapers: pull one from the satchel, flip it over, zoom to the bottom, and a tagline under one of the stories is the code. Some cheats also need you to own that specific edition, bought from a vendor in a particular town after a particular chapter, which makes finding them part of playing rather than something you look up once.
Input is strict. RDR2's phrases ignore capitalization but not punctuation, and a missing comma gets the whole thing rejected.
The RDR2 menu keeps what you type
Once RDR2 accepts a phrase, it writes it into the Cheats list in the pause menu and leaves it there. You toggle it on and off from that list without typing anything again. RDR2.org notes you can enter a phrase without activating it, save, and return later to a stocked menu.
In GTA V you re-enter a code every time you want it. In RDR2 you enter it once and it stays on the list.
Did GTA V have a cheat menu? No, it had three entry routes
GTA V went the other way. Console cheats there are button sequences entered during active gameplay, and the game must not be paused. That detail is easy to get wrong. Pausing is wrong for GTA V, and it is not a Grand Theft Auto VI instruction either, because none exists.
GTA V's other routes were the in-game phone and, on PC, the tilde console. Every GTA V cheat number begins 1-999, followed by digits that spell the cheat word on the keypad letters, so in GTA V, 1-999-8665-87 is 1-999-TOOLUP. Documented by GTA BOOM's GTA V cheat reference.
Nothing was stored. Rockstar Support's article on saving and achievements with GTA V cheat codes states that reloading a save or rebooting the console resets all cheats, so the next session starts with an empty slate and you type the whole thing again.
Our GTA V cheat reference page carries 20 of those effects with their console sequences, each badged as GTA V behaviour and unverified for GTA VI.
GTA IV sat between the two
GTA IV is the case people forget. Cheats were dialled on Niko's cell phone, ten digits with 555 as the middle block. Once a GTA IV number had been dialled successfully, the cheat was stored in a Cheats menu on the phone itself, below Options, and could be fired from there without retyping. GTA Intel's GTA IV guide and the GTA Wiki both describe that storage.
Line the three up: stored list in GTA IV, no list in GTA V, full menu with its own discovery layer in RDR2. There is no trend. Anyone predicting Grand Theft Auto VI from those three games is choosing whichever one suits the prediction, which is also why GTA V codes cannot be assumed to carry into GTA VI.
What each design does to your save file
A menu does more than save typing. It also decides what the game has to keep between sessions.
The two games treat saving in opposite ways. In GTA V, Rockstar Support's article says saving is allowed while cheat codes are enabled, with achievements temporarily disabled. In RDR2, turning a cheat on stops the game saving. Sources differ on scope: GamesRadar says autosaving is disabled, RDR2.org says saving is disabled for the session. Both say take a clean save first. Rockstar has not explained either choice, so treat these as two documented behaviours rather than one rule.
Trophies and achievements switch off in both games. There is a separate piece on how cheats affect trophies and achievements.
What a "GTA 6 cheat menu download" result actually is
Search that phrase and you get pages offering a menu to download. Grand Theft Auto VI has not released, so none of them can be a feature of it. Anything offering a cheat menu for the game today is third-party software written by someone other than Rockstar, and what you would be installing is that file.
Researchers have documented what was inside some of those files. Malwarebytes tracked fake GTA 6 demo and Extended Look sites delivering the Vidar infostealer, published August 24, 2026; the payload took saved passwords and session cookies from 19 browsers, and stolen cookies defeat two-factor authentication. Help Net Security reported on September 10, 2026 that fake leaked-build ISO downloads carried remote access trojans and a Chaos ransomware wiper.
If Grand Theft Auto VI ships a cheat menu, it will be in the game, not in an installer.
What would count as confirmation
Three things could settle it. Rockstar's own page or Newswire describing a cheat system. A Rockstar Support article, the way GTA V got one. Or the retail game on November 19, 2026, and someone reading the pause menu. Until then every claim about a menu here is unsourced, and our labelling rules are in how we verify cheat references.
Does GTA 6 have a cheat menu?
Unknown. Rockstar has published nothing about cheats in Grand Theft Auto VI as of September 16, 2026, menus included. It is listed as coming November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
Where is the cheat menu in Red Dead Redemption 2?
Pause, open Settings, and look at the bottom right of that screen for Cheats. Triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox opens it, and pressing again opens a text box for a phrase; on PC you click the entry instead. Accepted phrases are saved into that list and toggled later. This is RDR2 behaviour only.
Did GTA 5 have a cheat menu?
No. GTA V had no cheat menu and no saved cheat list. Codes were button sequences entered during gameplay, phone numbers dialled in the in-game phone, or words typed at the PC console. All of them cleared on a reload or reboot.
Can I download a GTA 6 cheat menu before release?
No. Rockstar has released no build, no demo and no cheat tool for Grand Theft Auto VI, so every file offered under that name comes from somewhere else. Security researchers found infostealer and ransomware payloads behind fake GTA 6 downloads in August and September 2026.
