Is there a GTA 6 roleplay server or mode?
No. Rockstar has not announced any roleplay platform, roleplay mode or FiveM version for Grand Theft Auto VI, and none exists today. The game launches on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and FiveM-style community servers run on Windows PCs, not on consoles.
The rest of this page covers what FiveM is, what Rockstar has said about roleplay, and what its September 2026 mod rules mean for anyone hoping to see GTA 6 roleplay servers later. We checked these points on October 22, 2026, against the sources listed below.
What is FiveM, and is it made for GTA 6?
FiveM is built for GTA V, not GTA VI. Its own website describes FiveM and its newer sibling for the Enhanced edition as "multiplayer-enabled modification frameworks for Grand Theft Auto V". The system requirements list Windows 10 as the minimum and Windows 11 as recommended, and each version requires a PC copy of GTA V.
Players use these frameworks to run custom multiplayer servers for GTA V. When Rockstar took the team in-house in 2023, its statement singled out dedicated roleplay servers, all on GTA V. Nothing on the FiveM site mentions GTA VI.
Can FiveM run on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S?
FiveM's own FAQ says no. It answers the console question by calling a console release "not feasible". The reasons it gives are that FiveM uses interoperability mechanisms only available on PC, and that it relies on the PC platform being open to developers without approval from the platform owner.
That matters because GTA VI is a console game for now. The PlayStation US store page, read today, lists the game for PS5 and says it "will only be playable on PlayStation 5 consoles". It shows "1 player" and calls the game a single-player experience. The Xbox Store listing names Xbox Series X|S as the only platform and also lists it as single player. Our article on whether GTA 6 is a single-player-only game covers what those listings do and do not say about an online mode.
Did Rockstar buy the team behind FiveM?
Rockstar brought the team in-house in 2023, for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. On August 11, 2023, Rockstar announced that Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and its Red Dead Redemption 2 counterpart RedM, had joined the company. Engadget reported the announcement the same day. 80.lv covered it on August 13, 2023, and described it as an acquisition; no purchase terms were published.
Rockstar's post, as quoted by Engadget, said the studio had "recently expanded our policy on mods to officially include those made by the roleplay creative community." It also said the partnership would help the Cfx.re team support that community and improve its services. Engadget quoted Cfx.re saying its day-to-day operations would not change in any noticeable way.
80.lv reported that the Cfx.re team asked its community not to ask about the next GTA, and said its work covered communities for games already on sale. Neither statement promised anything for GTA VI, so the 2023 deal is not a GTA 6 roleplay announcement.
What do Rockstar's mod rules say about multiplayer and the Creator Platform?
In September 2026 Rockstar published new mod guidelines. Its own page renders no readable text to our fetcher, so we rely on two outlets that read it. MP1st, reporting on September 21, quotes the rule as limiting multiplayer modding to "Rockstar Games' official licensed Creator Platform", and the same sentence goes on: "or else as otherwise licensed directly by Rockstar Games." Game Developer, on September 22, reported the same limit, with an exception where the studio has stated otherwise.
MP1st also reports that the Creator Platform is described as the exclusive licensed home for mod creators to make money from their work, and its report links to a Creator Platform License Agreement hosted on FiveM's site. The guidelines bar mods that make Rockstar games run on consoles or other hardware where Rockstar has not released them. MP1st also lists a ban on conflict roleplay or military simulations that depict real-world armed organizations.
The guidelines do not name GTA VI. Inven Global pointed that out on September 21. Game Developer said they also apply to existing releases such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2. Outlets frame them as preparation for GTA VI, but no part of the coverage says when, or whether, a GTA VI Creator Platform will open.
For the wider policy on single-player mods, monetization and story edits, see our guide to whether GTA 6 will have mods.
Will a PC version of GTA 6 bring roleplay servers?
Nobody can say. Rockstar has never announced a PC version. GamesBeat reported on October 13, citing four unnamed sources, that Rockstar is targeting PC in the first quarter of 2027, and Rockstar did not comment. That remains an unconfirmed report. Our GTA 6 PC release date page tracks it.
The current guidelines route multiplayer mods through Rockstar's licensing, either the Creator Platform or another arrangement Rockstar licenses directly. They do not name GTA VI, and they say nothing about a PC release.
What GTA V roleplay history tells us, and what it does not
GTA V roleplay grew on PC through a third-party framework, FiveM, before Rockstar brought Cfx.re in-house in 2023. The 2023 statement shows Rockstar now treats roleplay as part of its creative community. The 2026 guidelines show it wants multiplayer mods inside a licensed system.
Neither point is a GTA VI announcement. We will not print a release window, a server list or a feature list for GTA 6 roleplay until Rockstar publishes one. Be wary of sites offering "GTA 6 FiveM" downloads or early server access. GTA VI is not out, and no such files can be real.
For the same reason, VI Cheats has verified no GTA VI cheat code. Our GTA 6 cheats tracker lists what is confirmed, which today is nothing.
VI Cheats is independent and is not affiliated with Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, Cfx.re, Sony or Microsoft.
Is there a GTA 6 roleplay server?
No. GTA VI is not released yet, Rockstar has announced no roleplay platform for it, and the game launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, where FiveM does not run.
Is FiveM coming to GTA 6?
Nothing says so. FiveM describes itself as a framework for GTA V on Windows PC. Cfx.re joined Rockstar in 2023, but neither company has announced a GTA VI version.
Can you play FiveM on PS5 or Xbox?
No. FiveM's FAQ calls a console version not feasible, because it uses mechanisms only available on PC and depends on PC being open to developers without platform-owner approval.
What is the Rockstar Creator Platform?
Per MP1st and Game Developer, Rockstar's September 2026 mod guidelines name its licensed Creator Platform as the licensed place for multiplayer modding and for selling mods, unless Rockstar licenses something else directly. The guidelines do not mention GTA VI by name.
