How to cancel GTA 6 pre order on PS5 and Xbox
You cancel a GTA VI pre-order through the store that took your money, not through Rockstar. On PlayStation Store a refund is available before the November 19, 2026 release date as long as the game has not started to download, and on Microsoft Store you cancel from your order history.

Who sets the GTA 6 pre-order refund rules
Rockstar does not set the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store refund rules. Each store applies its own policy to every game it sells, GTA VI included. A boxed copy from a shop falls under that shop's returns policy, and an order on the Rockstar Store falls under the Rockstar Store's own terms.
PlayStation Store GTA 6 pre-order refund rules
If you bought on PlayStation Store, Sony's US page on cancelling PS Store pre-orders states the core rule in one sentence: "PlayStation Store refunds can be issued for pre-ordered content, as long as the request is made before the release date, or within 14 days of purchase, and the content has not started to download or stream."
The page then splits it into two cases. If you paid more than 14 days before release, you can cancel any time up to the release date, provided you have not started to download the main part of the content. If you paid 14 days or less before release, you can cancel up to 14 days after placing the pre-order, under the same download condition. Once the main download has started, Sony says you will not be able to request a refund.
Pre-loading counts as downloading. Sony's wording covers downloads "including pre-loading before release", and the page warns that downloads happen automatically if auto-downloads are enabled.
Rockstar's store page says GTA VI pre-load begins November 12, 2026. For a PS5 owner with auto-downloads switched on, that date is the practical cut-off for a refund, a week before launch. The full schedule is in our GTA 6 pre-order and pre-load dates report.
How to request a PS5 pre-order refund
There is no self-service cancel button described on Sony's page. It sends you to PlayStation Support.
- Make sure the main GTA VI download has not started. If auto-downloads are on, the pre-load can start on its own.
- Keep the order details from your PlayStation Store purchase email to hand.
- Contact PlayStation Support from the cancellation page and ask for the pre-order to be refunded.
Sony says the money goes back to the original payment method where possible. For some methods, including vouchers and mobile operator billing, the page says the refund goes to your PlayStation wallet instead.
One more catch from the same page. If a pre-order included extra content made available before the main game, you lose access to that content when you cancel.
Does the free GTA+ month renew after a PS5 pre-order
The PlayStation product page for GTA VI lists a one-month GTA+ subscription for digital pre-orders of the Standard or Ultimate Edition made before November 20, 2026, and marks it "Auto-renews". You claim it from the GTA+ product page, and the offer must be claimed by March 31, 2027.
The FAQ on the same PlayStation page says the on-screen instructions show the date the free month turns into a paid monthly subscription. To stop that, the page says to open Subscriptions Management in your account settings and cancel before the next payment date. The page does not say that cancelling the game pre-order also cancels GTA+, so treat them as two separate steps.
How to cancel GTA 6 pre order on Xbox Series X|S
Microsoft handles Xbox pre-orders through Microsoft Store. Its US page on cancelling orders lists these steps.
- Go to your Order history and find the GTA VI pre-order.
- Select Cancel item next to it.
- Tick the check box next to the item, then select the Cancel item button.
- Check your inbox for an email confirming the cancellation.
Billing timing matters here. Microsoft's pre-order page says that if you pay with money in your Microsoft account you are charged right away, and with any other payment option "we may charge you up to 10 days before the release date." If you have already been billed, the Cancel item option may be missing for a digital order. In that case Microsoft says to contact Microsoft Store Support for a refund.
A billed pre-order is still refundable before launch. Microsoft's wording: "If you cancel a pre-order after it's billed but before it's released, we'll process it as a refund."
Neither Microsoft page we read says whether pre-loading affects that refund.
Can you cancel a physical GTA 6 pre-order
A boxed pre-order from a retailer follows that retailer's policy, not Sony's or Microsoft's. We have not checked individual shops and do not list their terms. Ask the store directly, and ask what happens once the code has been redeemed.
That question matters because of the box itself. Rockstar's store page says physical versions contain only a download code, with no disc. Our GTA 6 physical edition explainer covers what is in the box.
For pre-orders placed on the Rockstar Store, the game page FAQ says to cancel through Rockstar's fulfillment partner, Xsolla, using its physical item cancellation form. You will need your order number and the email address you ordered with. For any other help, the FAQ points to Rockstar Support.
Can you get a refund on GTA 6 after pre-loading it on PS5?
Not under Sony's US policy. Starting the main download, including a pre-load, ends refund eligibility for a PlayStation Store pre-order.

Does a GTA 6 pre-order come with any cheats?
No pre-order listing we read mentions cheats. Rockstar has published nothing about cheats in GTA VI, and our GTA 6 cheats tracker lists no verified code.
