Do cheats disable trophies in GTA 6? There is no answer yet, because Rockstar Games has published nothing about cheats in Grand Theft Auto VI. No codes, no entry method, no note about achievements or trophies. The game is listed for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and rockstargames.com/VI still showed that date when checked on September 16, 2026. The Rockstar Support knowledge base for the game held four articles that day, all about platforms and pre-orders. None mentions cheats.

The question sitting underneath this one does have an answer. What has Rockstar said about cheats and achievements in a Grand Theft Auto game that actually shipped? That has a dated primary source, and it is short enough to quote in full.

What does Rockstar Support actually say about cheats and achievements?

One Rockstar Support article covers this, and a site search on September 16, 2026 turned up no other. It is about Grand Theft Auto V, it is titled "Information about saving and achievements while using GTA V cheat codes", and it was last updated April 28, 2024. Read again on that date, the core of it is a single sentence: "Saving is allowed when cheat codes are enabled but achievements are temporarily disabled."

Thirteen words, two separate claims. Saving keeps working. Achievements stop, and they stop temporarily.

The rest of the article is short. Entering the same code a second time will usually, though not always, switch the cheat back off. Some cheats are unavailable during specific stretches of play, and GTA V prints a refusal message on screen if you try one at the wrong moment. Starting a mission with off-mission cheats running cancels those cheats. And reloading a save or rebooting the console resets all cheats and returns the game to its previous state.

That is the whole article. It says nothing about save files being permanently marked, nothing about 100 percent completion being voided, and nothing about achievements being lost for good.

Does using a cheat lock your save file in GTA V?

No. Rockstar's own page says saving is allowed while cheats are enabled, and that reloading a save or rebooting clears the cheats. Those two sentences are hard to square with the idea of a ruined file.

One related claim does circulate with a real source behind it. PC Gamer's GTA V cheats guide, last updated July 1, 2026, says that with cheats enabled you cannot earn better than a Bronze mission rating. Rockstar's article says nothing about mission ratings either way. That is PC Gamer's finding, not Rockstar's.

Why "every GTA handles cheats the same way" is wrong

The assumption underneath most pre-launch trophy claims is that Rockstar treats cheats the same way every time, so whatever GTA V does, GTA VI will do. The series is not consistent.

GTA Wiki, a community wiki read on September 16, 2026, documents Grand Theft Auto IV blocking specific named achievements per cheat. Per the wiki, the blocking applies only to the active save file, none of the cheats prevent 100 percent completion, and loading a save without cheats re-enables them. Different cheats block different achievements. The weather cheat blocks none.

Grand Theft Auto V is different. Rockstar's wording is that achievements are temporarily disabled, with no individual achievement named and no exceptions listed, and that saving is unaffected.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is stricter still. PC Gamer's RDR2 cheats guide, updated November 19, 2025, reports that turning cheats on removes both achievements and the ability to save. There is no Rockstar Support article covering RDR2 cheats and trophies, so that one rests on the games press rather than the publisher.

That is three Rockstar releases with three different rules, which leaves nothing consistent for a fourth to inherit.

Do cheats disable trophies in GTA 6?

Unknown, and the past-game record does not narrow it.

Rockstar has never said GTA VI will have cheats. It has also never said it will not. Both directions are unsourced, and a guide that presents either as reported news is inventing the sourcing. Our GTA V cheat reference list exists precisely because that is the only material anyone can verify right now, and every entry on it carries a label saying so. The reasoning behind why that list is badged GTA V rather than GTA VI is set out separately.

What are the pre-launch cheat pages getting wrong?

Two errors keep appearing, and both are checkable against Rockstar's page.

The first is the permanent save. Searching this question on September 16, 2026 returned pre-launch GTA 6 cheat pages asserting that a save made with a cheat active stays flagged, and that achievements never come back on that file. Rockstar's GTA V article says the opposite on both counts: saving is allowed, and reloading a save resets the cheats. No page making that claim cites a Rockstar source, because there is not one to cite.

The second error is about platforms. Several of those pages promise trophy and achievement rules for PS5, Xbox and PC. Rockstar has never announced a PC version of GTA VI, on any date, at any storefront. A page confident enough to publish the PC achievement policy for an unannounced PC version of an unreleased game is not checking anything. The same instinct produces full "confirmed" code tables months before launch, which is the pattern covered in our guide to how cheat references are labelled and verified.

What GTA V trophy hunters actually do

The habit is a save-management one, not a code-specific one. PC Gamer's GTA V guide advises saving manually before enabling a cheat and reloading afterwards, and Rockstar's article explains why that works: reloading a save resets all cheats. None of that transfers to GTA VI. Whether GTA VI needs the same habit, a stricter one, or none at all is not knowable before the game ships.

Where a real answer will come from

After November 19, 2026, from two places. The game will show its own behaviour the first time somebody enters a code, if codes exist. Rockstar Support will either publish an article for GTA VI, as it did for GTA V, or it will not.

Until then, any page stating a GTA VI trophy rule is stating something it cannot source.

Is anything known about cheats and a platinum trophy in GTA 6?

Nothing is known. GTA VI has no published trophy list and no published cheat list, and Rockstar has made no statement connecting them. In GTA V, Rockstar says achievements are disabled only temporarily while cheats are active.

Can I still save my game with cheats turned on?

In GTA V, yes. Rockstar Support states plainly that saving is allowed when cheat codes are enabled. In Red Dead Redemption 2, PC Gamer reports that cheats remove saving as well as achievements, so the answer differs by game and nothing is known for GTA VI.

Do trophies come back after I turn cheats off?

In GTA V, Rockstar's wording is "temporarily disabled", and the same article says reloading a save or rebooting the console resets all cheats. In GTA IV, per GTA Wiki, blocked achievements return when you load a save file that had no cheats used on it. Neither of those is a statement about GTA VI.

Are there any confirmed GTA 6 cheat codes yet?

None. Rockstar has published no GTA VI code, phone entry, console command or button input, and the game has not shipped. Any site printing a full "confirmed" table today wrote it themselves. The same logic applies to money codes, which we covered in what can actually be verified about a GTA VI money cheat.
