Is there a GTA 6 wanted level cheat?
No, and there is no honest way to soften that. Rockstar Games has published no cheat codes for Grand Theft Auto VI, no entry method, and no statement about what cheats will or will not do, which means a GTA 6 wanted level cheat is not something anyone can check against a source today. The game is currently dated November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, per Rockstar's Newswire post of November 6, 2025. That post is about a date. It says nothing about cheats.
Any list circulating with star-raising or star-clearing inputs for the new game was written by someone guessing, or by someone copying the shape of an older code and swapping a button. Shape is not evidence. Our count of verified codes for the new game sits at zero, and we keep it on the GTA 6 cheats page.
What did the wanted level cheats do in GTA V?
GTA V shipped two of them, pointing in opposite directions.
Raise Wanted Level in GTA V added a star to the meter. On PlayStation the input was R1, R1, Circle, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right. The same effect came from dialing 1-999-3844-8483 on the in-game cell phone, which GTA BOOM spells out as 1-999-FUGITIVE.
Lower Wanted Level in GTA V took a star away. On PlayStation: R1, R1, Circle, R2, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left. The number was 1-999-5299-3787, printed as 1-999-LAWYER-UP. GTA BASE and GTA BOOM publish identical strings for both cheats, which is the kind of agreement worth having before anyone repeats a code.
Why do the two GTA V wanted level codes look almost identical?
Put the two GTA V codes side by side. The first four inputs are the same in both: R1, R1, Circle, R2. The last six are the same directions in mirrored order. One runs Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right. The other runs Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left.
That is a GTA V design detail, and nothing more. It is not a way to tell a real code from an invented one. The test for that is further down this page, and it is about sourcing, not shape.
What is a wanted level for?
In GTA V the star meter is the police response dial. More stars, heavier pursuit. Break the chase and the meter drops off on its own. Raising it deliberately summons that pressure without having earned it. One code starts the fight, the other ends it.
None of that is a claim about the new game. It describes GTA V, on PlayStation, with codes GTA V shipped with.
Do GTA V cheat effects survive a reload?
They do not. GTA BOOM describes GTA V cheat effects as session-based, and says that after reloading a clean save or restarting the game you enter the code again in free roam if you want that effect back. Rockstar's own support article says the same thing: reloading a save or rebooting the console resets all cheats and returns the game to its previous state.
That article covers a few edges worth knowing. Entering the same code a second time will usually, though not always, switch the cheat off. Some cheats are unavailable during specific stretches of play. Starting a mission with off-mission cheats running cancels those cheats.
Do cheat codes disable achievements?
In GTA V they pause them. Rockstar Support's page on the subject, last updated April 28, 2024, puts it in a single sentence: "Saving is allowed when cheat codes are enabled but achievements are temporarily disabled."
Read that narrowly, because it gets stretched. Saving is fine. Achievements are off while the cheats are on. It is a GTA V page describing GTA V, and it was written years before the new game had a date. What Grand Theft Auto VI does about trophies is unpublished, and we track that question on its own page: do cheats disable trophies in GTA 6.
How do you spot a fake GTA 6 wanted level cheat list?
Start with where the page says it got the code. A real one would come from Rockstar, and anyone who typed it would get the same result. Most of these pages cannot name a source at all, and the ones that do tend to cite each other in a circle.
Then look at what the page wants next. A site that answers a cheat question by pointing you at a mod menu or a trainer has stopped answering the question. Those are not cheats. VI Cheats does not link to them, does not host them, and on a locked console they do not work the way those pages imply. VI Cheats is independent and not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive; see our disclaimer.
Watch the tense too. Pages will write about the new game's codes in the present, as though someone has already used them. Nobody has. There is more on the pattern in our breakdown of fake GTA 6 cheat code lists.
Will the GTA V wanted level codes work in GTA 6?
Nobody can answer that yet, and anyone who does is inventing. Rockstar has not said whether the new game includes cheats, how they would be entered, or what any of them would do. A reference to an old code is a reference, not a promise. We wrote about what that distinction means in GTA 5 codes and GTA 6.
Is there a GTA 6 wanted level cheat on PS5 or Xbox?
No. The answer is the same on both. Grand Theft Auto VI is listed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with nothing published about cheats for either. Rockstar has never announced a PC version, on any date, at any storefront.
How were San Andreas cheats entered?
San Andreas used button combinations only, with no phone entry. The cell phone as a cheat input came later in the series: GTA IV used it, and GTA V kept it alongside button strings. We have not verified specific San Andreas inputs ourselves, so this page does not print any.
How many cheats did GTA V have?
Published lists disagree, so we do not print a single figure as fact. GTA BASE's PlayStation cheat page states a total of 34. The GTA BOOM list we read does not give a running total on the page itself. Counts move depending on how a list treats platform variants and phone-only entries.
