Is GTA 6 on Switch 2? No, not at launch

No. GTA 6 is not on Switch 2: Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Neither Rockstar Games nor Take-Two Interactive has announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version.

We read Rockstar's official GTA VI page on October 16, 2026. It lists two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, under the line "Coming November 19, 2026", and neither Switch 2 nor PC appears. Rockstar's November 2025 Newswire post that set the current date named the same two consoles.

That is the whole official picture today. If that changes, Rockstar's own page is where it will show first, so check it again on launch day before you buy anything.

What did Nintendo say about GTA 6 on Switch 2?

The only on-record comment came from Nintendo, not Rockstar. Devon Pritchard, president of Nintendo of America, was asked about it in an interview with Variety, which Insider Gaming reported on October 9, 2026. Insider Gaming carries her answer:

"That's going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time."

Read it as it stands. Nintendo does not decide which platforms get a Rockstar game. Pritchard pointed the question back at the publisher and said she had nothing to announce. She did not say a version exists. She did not say one is planned. She did not rule one out either.

In the same interview she spoke about the console in general terms. Insider Gaming quotes her saying Nintendo is "just at the beginning" of seeing what Switch 2 can do, a line about the hardware rather than about GTA VI.

We could not read Variety's article ourselves; its site blocked our fetcher on October 16. The quote above comes from Insider Gaming's report, which attributes it to Variety by name.

Did Nintendo say the Switch 2 can run GTA 6?

No. A few sites got this wrong, GTA Intel noted on October 12.

Variety's piece included a sentence saying the console has the horsepower to host the M-rated game. According to GTA Intel, a few sites then ran headlines saying Nintendo had confirmed the Switch 2 can run GTA 6. GTA Intel pointed out that the horsepower line was the Variety writer's own framing. Pritchard is not quoted saying it. Pocket Tactics' write-up of the same interview, updated October 10, carries her GTA answer and no horsepower claim at all.

We are not going to guess how GTA VI would run on Switch 2. No one outside Rockstar has played it on that hardware, and no test exists that we could cite.

Has Rockstar released games on Nintendo consoles before?

Yes. These are earlier Rockstar releases, listed as history only. None of them tells you anything about GTA VI's platforms.

  • Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Nintendo DS. Nintendo's own UK listing gives a European release date of 20 March 2009, with Rockstar Games as publisher. It was built for the DS. Our Chinatown Wars cheats guide covers that game on its own terms.
  • Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, Nintendo Switch. The remastered GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas collection launched digitally on Switch in 2021. NME reported in January 2022 that the boxed Switch version would follow on February 11. Rockstar itself said the remasters "did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality", as NME quoted. See the Trilogy Definitive Edition cheats page for that collection.
  • Red Dead Redemption, Nintendo Switch. Shacknews reported on August 7, 2023 that the western, bundled with its Undead Nightmare expansion, would arrive on Switch and PS4 on August 17, 2023, with a physical release on October 13.
  • Red Dead Redemption, Nintendo Switch 2. MP1st reported on November 13, 2025 that Rockstar would bring the same game to Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, iOS and Android on December 2, with a free digital upgrade for existing Switch owners.

That last report matters for context: Rockstar planned a Switch 2 release for one of its older games, yet GTA VI is still not listed for the console.

What about PC, cloud and older consoles?

These are separate questions with their own pages, so we will keep this short.

For the date itself, the GTA 6 release date page is kept current.

What has been reported about a Switch 2 port?

Nothing we can print as fact. Some outlets have repeated claims from anonymous industry figures about port testing. Those claims are unconfirmed, Rockstar has not addressed them, and we are leaving them out.

If Rockstar or Take-Two announces a Switch 2 version, it will come through Rockstar's Newswire or a Take-Two statement. Take-Two reports its next quarterly results on November 9, 2026, per its Business Wire notice.

Do cheats change anything for Switch 2 players?

No, and there is nothing to change yet. Rockstar has published no cheat information for GTA VI on any platform, and VI Cheats has verified no GTA VI code. Our GTA 6 cheats hub will only list codes once they can be checked in the released game. VI Cheats is an independent site and is not affiliated with Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive or Nintendo.

Is GTA 6 coming to Nintendo Switch 2?

Not as of October 16, 2026. Rockstar lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and no Switch 2 version has been announced.

What did Nintendo's president say about GTA 6?

Devon Pritchard told Variety it is "a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar" and that she had nothing to announce, as Insider Gaming reported on October 9, 2026.

Did Nintendo confirm Switch 2 can run GTA 6?

No. The horsepower remark came from Variety's own writing, not from Pritchard, as GTA Intel noted on October 12, 2026.

Has Rockstar put games on Switch 2 before?

Yes. MP1st reported in November 2025 that Red Dead Redemption would arrive on Switch 2 on December 2, 2025. That says nothing about GTA VI's platform list.
