What is the GTA 6 DualSense controller?

Sony is releasing two limited-edition PS5 controllers themed on Grand Theft Auto VI, one black and one white. The GTA 6 DualSense controller costs 84.99 USD in either colour and ships on November 19, 2026, the same day as the game.

Sony announced both during its State of Play on September 3, 2026. The details below come from the PlayStation Blog post published that day, credited to Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, and to Rockstar. Engadget covered the reveal the same day and reported the same price, pre-order date and launch date.

VI Cheats is an independent site. It is not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment, Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive.

When was the GTA 6 DualSense announced?

The reveal came in the State of Play on Thursday, September 3, 2026. The PlayStation Blog post went up the same day under the title "First look at the Grand Theft Auto VI Limited-Edition DualSense Wireless Controllers."

Engadget's report, by Anna Washenko, carries a timestamp of 2:01 PM Eastern on September 3.

What do the black and white versions look like?

Sony gives the two models full product names: the DualSense Wireless Controller - Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition, and the White Limited Edition.

Per Sony, both share a colour-shifting finish meant to evoke a Vice City sunset and neon light, plus palm tree details molded into the shell. The white model is framed as Vice City at daybreak. The black one is pitched at the city's nightlife.

Engadget added a few specifics from the images. It describes a Roman numeral VI with Rockstar branding on the touchpad, hot pink detailing on the buttons, an iridescent blue lower half and palm fronds embossed on the grips, going by the photos rather than a Sony spec sheet.

Sony has not listed any hardware change. Nothing in the post says these controllers differ from a standard DualSense in features or battery.

How much does the GTA 6 DualSense cost?

Sony lists one price for both colours:

  • 84.99 USD
  • 84.99 EUR
  • 74.99 GBP
  • 12,480 JPY, tax included

Engadget rounded the US figure to 85 dollars.

No bundle price with a PS5 console or with a copy of the game appears in the post. For the game itself, pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 at 79.99 USD for the Standard Edition and 99.99 USD for the Ultimate Edition. Our pre-order and pre-load dates page has the full timeline.

When do GTA 6 DualSense pre-orders open, and where?

Pre-orders opened on September 10, 2026. In the US the start time was 7:00 AM Pacific, 10:00 AM Eastern. In the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg the start was 10:00 AM local time. Sony's post gives no start time for other regions.

The two colours are not sold the same way, and the difference matters if you want the black one.

The White Limited Edition is sold in limited quantities globally, through direct.playstation.com and participating retailers.

The Black Limited Edition is sold in limited quantities exclusively through direct.playstation.com in the regions where PlayStation Direct operates. In other regions it goes through select retailers.

In practice, if you live where PlayStation Direct sells hardware and you want the black model, Sony's own store is the only channel it names. The white model has a wider spread of shops. Sony's post does not list which retailers take part in which country.

When does the GTA 6 DualSense controller release?

November 19, 2026. That matches the game's launch date, which Rockstar confirmed on its Newswire on November 6, 2025. As of September 28, 2026 we found no announcement of any further delay to the game.

GTA VI is announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. Rockstar has never announced a PC version. A DualSense is a PS5 controller, and the Sony post frames these as PS5 accessories.

There is no Xbox twin in this announcement. Our searches on September 28, 2026 turned up no announcement of a GTA VI themed Xbox controller. The Sony post covers the two DualSense models only.

How many GTA 6 DualSense controllers will there be?

Several things are missing from Sony's post and from the coverage we read:

  • How many units exist. Sony says "limited quantities" and gives no number.
  • The retailer list per country for either colour.
  • Whether any second wave of stock is planned.
  • Any bundle with a console or with the game.

We have not seen a dated report from a named outlet on current stock levels, so we make no claim about whether either model is available right now.

Where should you buy it?

Buy from PlayStation Direct or from a retailer you already use and trust. Limited products tend to draw resellers and copycat listings. We have no sourced report of a specific scam around these controllers, so we will not describe one. The simple check is the seller: if it is not Sony or a shop you know, look harder before you pay. Our guide to a fake GTA 6 pre-order site covers the general warning signs.

A controller also has no bearing on cheats. It does not add codes or unlock anything in the game. Rockstar has published nothing about cheats in GTA VI, and our GTA 6 cheats page tracks what has and has not been verified.

How much is the GTA 6 DualSense controller?

84.99 USD, 84.99 EUR, 74.99 GBP or 12,480 JPY including tax, per the PlayStation Blog. Both colours cost the same.

Can I still pre-order the black GTA 6 DualSense?

Pre-orders opened on September 10, 2026. Where PlayStation Direct operates, Sony names it as the only seller of the black model. We have no dated stock report, so check PlayStation Direct directly.

Does the GTA 6 controller come with the game?

Not as announced. Sony's post sells the controllers on their own and mentions no bundle with the game or a console.

Does the GTA 6 DualSense work on PC or Xbox?

Sony presents it as a PS5 controller, and its post says nothing about PC or Xbox use. GTA VI itself is announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, with no PC version announced.
