GTA Liberty City Stories cheats: how they work

GTA Liberty City Stories cheats are button sequences you type on the controller while you play, with no pause screen and no menu. GTABase lists 43 codes for the PSP and PS2 versions, and four of them work only on the PSP because they unlock multiplayer content.

This page is a legacy reference. It prints a small set of Liberty City Stories codes that we matched character by character across two cheat lists we fetched on October 2, 2026: GTABase and Grand Theft Wiki. GameFAQs blocked our fetch that day, so we did not use it to confirm anything. Nothing below is a GTA VI code, and nothing links these Liberty City Stories sequences to GTA VI.

How do you enter cheats in Liberty City Stories?

You press the buttons in order during normal gameplay. GTABase says you can enter cheats at any time without pausing, and a confirmation message appears when a code takes.

There is no text box and no cheat menu. If you miss a button, start the sequence again.

One naming detail trips people up. The PSP has a single left and a single right shoulder button. GTABase writes them as L and R for the PSP and as L1 and R1 for the PS2. Grand Theft Wiki writes L1 and R1 even in its PSP table. They are the same two shoulder buttons on the handheld. The sequences below use the PSP labels.

Which Liberty City Stories codes did we cross-check?

Each of these Liberty City Stories PSP codes appears with the same buttons in the same order on both GTABase and Grand Theft Wiki. We write them with spaces.

  • Full health: L R X L R Square L R
  • Full armor: L R Circle L R X L R
  • Get $250,000: L R Triangle L R Circle L R
  • Weapon set 1: Up Square Square Down Left Square Square Right
  • Never wanted: L L Triangle R R X Square Circle
  • Raise wanted level: L R Square L R Triangle L R
  • Aggressive drivers: Square Square R X X L Circle Circle
  • Pedestrians riot: L L R L L R Left Square

On the PS2 the buttons are the same, with L1 in place of L and R1 in place of R. Both lists agree on that. Grand Theft Wiki's PS2 table draws each button as an icon, and its icons spell out the same eight sequences GTABase prints.

The GTABase effect notes add detail. Full health also repairs the engine and tyres if you are in a vehicle. Raise wanted level adds two stars. Weapon set 1 hands over brass knuckles, a knife, Molotov cocktails, a pistol, a shotgun, a Tec-9, an AK47, a flamethrower and a sniper rifle.

Can you turn off GTA Liberty City Stories cheats?

Some, not all. GTABase says you can switch off some Liberty City Stories cheats by entering them again. It names Pedestrians Riot and Pedestrians Attack as two that cannot be disabled, which means loading an earlier save to get rid of them.

That is the reason the same page tells you to save before you start cheating. If a riot breaks out and will not stop, the save you made beforehand is the way back.

A few codes behave differently again, per the GTABase notes. Faster Clock switches off when used again. Faster Gameplay and Slower Gameplay stack if you repeat them. Upside Down has its own matching code to reverse it.

Grand Theft Wiki carries a general warning that cheats may cause unintended side effects or hinder game progress, without naming specific codes.

What are the PSP multiplayer codes?

GTABase lists four Liberty City Stories codes that work only on the PSP. They unlock multiplayer content in four steps, at 25, 50, 75 and 100 percent, adding gangs and pedestrians for the handheld's multiplayer modes. GTABase gives the 100 percent step as unlocking all gangs and pedestrians.

Grand Theft Wiki lists the same four as Unlock Multiplayer Stuff entries. The PS2 version has no counterpart in either list. We have not reprinted these four sequences here.

Is there a cheat menu in Liberty City Stories?

Do Liberty City Stories cheats work in GTA 6?

No. Every sequence on this page was written for the PSP and PS2 games, and none of it is a GTA VI code.

Rockstar set GTA VI's launch for November 19, 2026 in a Newswire post. Its official GTA VI page lists the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. As of October 2, 2026, Rockstar has published nothing about cheats in GTA VI, and VI Cheats has verified no GTA VI code.
