There is no GTA 6 invincibility cheat. No code, no button sequence, no phone number, no console command, because Rockstar Games has published nothing at all about cheats in Grand Theft Auto VI, and an unreleased game cannot have a working code circulating ahead of it.

The rest of this page covers what invincibility actually did in GTA V, the last Grand Theft Auto that shipped with it. That is the mechanic most people are picturing when they search, and it ran on a timer.

Is anything about GTA VI invincibility confirmed?

No. Rockstar's official Grand Theft Auto VI page, checked on September 16, 2026, lists "Coming November 19, 2026" and two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. It says nothing about cheats. Neither does the Newswire, nor the support site, nor anything Take-Two has said publicly.

A domain-restricted search across rockstargames.com and support.rockstargames.com on that date returned no GTA VI cheats article of any kind. The only cheat-related Rockstar posts concern cheaters in GTA Online, which is GTA V's online mode, not this game.

So there is nothing to confirm, including whether the game has a cheat system at all. We track that gap on our running status page for GTA VI cheat codes.

Why "cheats always carry over" is a bad assumption

Search this phrase and several of the top results will tell you that cheats have carried forward between Grand Theft Auto games, so invincibility is likely to return in the same form. A few pages skip the reasoning and simply print a code.

Look at what the series actually did. GTA IV put its cheats on Niko's cell phone as ten-digit numbers. San Andreas used typed keywords and controller sequences entered during normal gameplay. Red Dead Redemption 2 threw out both and used typed phrases printed in in-game newspapers, entered through a Cheats option inside the pause menu's Settings screen, with several refusing to work unless you carried the right newspaper edition in your satchel.

That is three games and three different input systems. GTA V is the awkward case for both sides of this argument: it carried San Andreas's typed keyword and GTA IV's dialed number forward at the same time, and then Red Dead Redemption 2, the last Rockstar game to ship, discarded both for typed newspaper phrases. Methods recur, but not in an order anyone can project forward, which is why nobody can responsibly tell you how a code would be entered in a game Rockstar has not described. Our guide on whether GTA V codes work in GTA VI covers that ground.

How the invincibility cheat worked in GTA V

In GTA V it was real and it had a name. The PC keyword was PAINKILLER, per GTA BOOM's full GTA V cheat list, read September 17, 2026. The phone version, dialed from the in-game phone, was 1-999-724-654-5537, which spells out that same word on the keypad letters. Console players entered it as a button sequence during active gameplay, with the game unpaused, and those sequences sit on our GTA V cheat reference for PS5 and Xbox, each one badged as GTA V behavior and unverified for GTA VI.

The effect was time-limited, which is the part most descriptions leave out.

Why the five-minute timer is the detail that matters

GTA V's invincibility ran on a clock. GTA BOOM's invincibility page states that the effect lasts five minutes in total, after which you re-enter the code. GTA V Wiki gives the same figure and says it must be reactivated rather than renewing on its own. Both read September 17, 2026. When the five minutes ran out, Michael, Franklin or Trevor took damage again like anyone else.

Reloading cleared it as well. Rockstar Support's article on saving and achievements while using GTA V cheat codes states that saving is allowed while cheats are enabled but achievements are temporarily disabled, that entering the same code twice will usually, though not always, switch the cheat back off, and that reloading a save or rebooting the console resets all cheats and returns the game to its previous state. Invincibility survived none of that.

Missions cut it short too, and here Rockstar is explicit. The same support article says that during specific areas of gameplay certain cheats are temporarily unavailable, and that entering one then returns the on-screen message "Cheat Denied: Cannot activate that cheat right now." It also states that starting a mission with off-mission cheat codes enabled will disable those cheats. So in GTA V, a five-minute invincibility timer started in free roam did not follow you into a mission.

The achievement question comes up constantly, and we handle it separately in do cheats disable trophies in GTA 6.

Where GTA V's cheat lists actually came from

Players found them. Every widely used GTA V cheat list is community work.

Rockstar's support site documents what cheats do to your save and your achievements. For GTA V it has not published the codes themselves. There is no official master list on rockstargames.com, so the lists on every site, including the reference page on this one, are community-discovered and community-tested, then copied between publications for a decade.

That matters here. If Rockstar did not publish a list for a game released in 2013, the absence of a list for a game arriving in November 2026 tells you nothing either way. The difference is that GTA V's codes were tested by thousands of people on a shipped game, and GTA VI's cannot be tested by anyone, because there is nothing to test them on.

What to do with the codes circulating now

Treat every one as invented. Plenty of pages will hand you a GTA 6 invincibility cheat today, some conceding "unconfirmed" in fine print while presenting the code as real. None of them has tested anything.

Some of those pages carry a real risk. Through 2026, security researchers tracked fake GTA VI downloads carrying malware. Malwarebytes documented fake demo and Extended Look sites serving an infostealer in August 2026. Help Net Security documented fake leaked-build ISO files carrying remote access trojans, an infostealer and wiper ransomware in September 2026. Cheat searches feed that traffic. We covered the pattern, and the money cheat version of it, in what can be verified about a GTA 6 money cheat.

Nothing you can download today can contain a code from a game Rockstar has not finished.

Common questions about invincibility in GTA VI

Does GTA 6 have a god mode cheat?

Unknown. Rockstar has not confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI has cheats at all, let alone an invincibility effect. Anyone stating otherwise before release is guessing. The game releases November 19, 2026, per Rockstar's own page, checked September 16, 2026.

Will the GTA 5 invincibility code work in GTA 6?

Nobody can say, and nobody has tested it, because the game is not out. PAINKILLER and its phone number are documented GTA V inputs on GTA V systems. The pattern is mixed. GTA V did carry San Andreas's typed keyword and GTA IV's dialed number forward, and Red Dead Redemption 2 then dropped both for typed newspaper phrases. So a straight carry-over into GTA VI is a guess in either direction, not a safe assumption.

How long did invincibility last in GTA V?

Five minutes, then it expired and had to be re-entered, according to GTA BOOM and GTA V Wiki, both read September 17, 2026. Reloading a save or rebooting the console also cleared it, and starting a mission with an off-mission cheat enabled switched it off, per Rockstar Support's article on cheats and saving.

When will GTA VI cheat codes be announced?

There is no announced date and no sign Rockstar plans an announcement. For GTA V the codes were found by players after launch rather than published by Rockstar. If that pattern repeats, and only if GTA VI turns out to contain cheats at all, the first credible information about a GTA 6 invincibility cheat would come after November 19, 2026, from people holding the finished game. We will update this page if Rockstar publishes anything before then.
