Is there a GTA 6 Hotel Figueroa mural?

No GTA 6 Hotel Figueroa mural has been announced by Rockstar Games, and VI Cheats found no photo of one on the building as of October 5, 2026. What exists is an image of a production sheet, circulating online in recent days, that claims a mural is planned for the hotel in downtown Los Angeles. VI Cheats could not verify it. Rockstar, the hotel and OUTFRONT Media had not commented on it in any coverage we could find on October 5.

The rumor has traction for a simple reason. Rockstar has used this wall before, more than once, for Grand Theft Auto launches. The sheet leans on that history. Below is what the image shows, why parts of it do not add up, and what the public record actually says.

What does the leaked Hotel Figueroa document show?

The image is laid out like a billboard company's production plan. Read as circulated, the sheet shows:

  • A header reading "OUTFRONT/ LARGE FORMAT WALLSCAPES" and the title "HOTEL FIGUEROA - DOWNTOWN TRIO".
  • The hotel's street address on South Figueroa Street, an inventory name of Downtown Trio, a market of Los Angeles and an asset ID.
  • "ARTWORK TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS - PRODUCTION PLAN", marked "VERSION 1.0" and "FOR PRODUCTION", with the issue date field left blank.
  • Three panels, each marked at a full height of 125 feet.
  • A montage built from the two leads' existing official key art, plus a panel carrying a "grand theft auto" wordmark.

A fan watermark sits across the middle of the page. The paper also shows heavy scan wear, the kind of creasing and grain that can be added in an editor as easily as it can come from a real scanner.

Is the GTA 6 mural document real or fake?

Nobody outside the companies involved can say for certain, and we are not calling it fake. We can say it does not hold up well.

The biggest problem is inside the sheet itself. Its Format field reads "HAND-PAINTED WALLSCAPE (3 PANELS)". Its technical requirements then ask for print files: CMYK color with Pantone references, a resolution of 100 to 150 ppi at final scale, AI, EPS, PDF or a high-resolution flattened TIFF, outlined fonts, and delivery by secure file transfer up to 25GB. Those read like specs for a printed banner. A wall painted by hand has no pixel resolution, so it has no use for a 150 ppi TIFF. It is hard to see why a real production plan would contradict itself on how the art is made.

Other details are weak evidence in either direction. The artwork is official key art Rockstar has already published, so it proves nothing about access to unreleased material. The blank issue date is odd for a document marked for production. And the facts that do check out are public. OUTFRONT's own blog, in a May 2025 post about GTA VI and billboards, names its "Downtown Trio" wallscape at the Hotel Figueroa and describes it as a "125-foot-high, 105-foot-wide canvas." Anyone who read that post could fill in the name, the location and the height.

OUTFRONT Media is a real out-of-home advertising company, and that same post lists its Los Angeles wallscapes and billboards. None of this means OUTFRONT has anything to do with the image, since a company logo on a page anyone can edit is not a statement from that company.

Which GTA games had murals on the Hotel Figueroa?

The record for past games is solid, though it covers fewer games than some fan posts claim.

  • GTA IV (2008). Creative Commons photos on Flickr, taken on May 30, 2008, are titled "Grand Theft Auto IV murals, Hotel Figueroa, Los Angeles". GTA IV came out in April 2008. If you are replaying it, our GTA IV cheat list covers the phone codes that game used.
  • Max Payne 3. VideoGamer reported in August 2013 that Rockstar had previously used the hotel to promote GTA 4 and Max Payne 3.
  • GTA V (2013). VideoGamer reported on August 9, 2013 that a huge GTA 5 mural was being painted on the side of the hotel, showing the game's three lead characters, ahead of its September 17 release.

OUTFRONT's 2025 post adds that "Upon GTA V's release, Rockstar commissioned a hand-painted mural with each of the game's main characters across the three towers of the historic hotel." That confirms hand-painting for GTA V. We did not find a fetched source stating how the GTA IV art was made, or who painted any of the Rockstar murals, so we are leaving both out.

What is the Hotel Figueroa?

The hotel's own history page says it was opened in 1926 by the YWCA as a safe place for women traveling alone. It stands at 939 S. Figueroa Street in downtown Los Angeles, which matches the address on the circulated sheet, though the address is public and anyone making the sheet could have looked it up.

What GTA 6 promotion has actually been reported?

Some real-world GTA VI marketing is on the record, and it is worth keeping apart from the Los Angeles rumor.

  • Kotaku reported on October 2, 2026 that a new GTA VI mural was being painted in Brooklyn, New York, showing the game's two leads.
  • The same Kotaku piece cited the Miami Heat announcing "A Night in Vice City" for November 18, the day before launch.
  • Men's Journal, carried by Yahoo on September 11, 2026, reported that Miami Beach commissioners voted 4-3 to approve a GTA VI campaign running October 15 to December 31, using the "VI" logo on beach chairs and umbrellas.
