GTA 6 Phone Cheats: What the Series Actually Did

No GTA 6 phone cheats are on record. Rockstar Games has published no cheat code, no cheat phone number and no entry method for Grand Theft Auto VI, and the game does not release until November 19, 2026. What can be documented is the mechanic itself. Dialling a cheat on an in-game phone is real, it belongs to GTA IV, its Liberty City episodes and GTA V, and that history is better documented than the code tables now circulating for Grand Theft Auto VI.

Has Rockstar said anything about cheats in GTA VI?

No. Checked September 16, 2026: the official game page at rockstargames.com/VI lists the November 19, 2026 release and the two platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, and carries no cheats section. The Rockstar Support knowledge base for GTA VI runs to four articles, covering platforms, editions, pre-orders and GTA+ redemption, and none of them mention cheats. Neither does any Newswire post about the game, from the first trailer on December 4, 2023 through the Extended Look in August 2026.

Rockstar has not published a number, an entry method, or a statement in either direction about whether Grand Theft Auto VI will have cheats.

Which Grand Theft Auto games actually had phone cheats?

The list is shorter than people assume. GTA IV introduced the idea, its two Liberty City episodes each added their own numbers, and GTA V reused the mechanic. Red Dead Redemption 2, set in 1899, uses typed phrases from a pause menu instead.

The GTA Wiki entry on cheats in GTA IV describes the method: cheats there "are activated by bringing up the phone number pad and typing a cheat phone number into Niko Bellic's, Johnny Klebitz's, or Luis Fernando Lopez's mobile phones." Those three are the protagonists of GTA IV, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Every GTA IV cheat number on the wiki's list uses 555 as its middle block. In GTA IV, 468-555-0100 cycled the weather and 267-555-0100 cleared the wanted level.

Per GTA Wiki, GTA IV's numbers also work in The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, while each episode's own numbers do not work back in GTA IV. None of them do anything in GTA V.

What happened after you dialled a cheat in GTA IV?

GTA IV stored the number once you had dialled it. The wiki continues: "After this has been done once, the cheat will be stored in the phone, and accessible from the 'Cheats' menu there." Dial a GTA IV number once and it became a saved entry you could fire again from a list. That is the part worth knowing, and it is what separated GTA IV's system from GTA V's.

GTA IV also blocked achievements cheat by cheat rather than all at once. Per GTA Wiki, entering certain cheats disabled specific named achievements on that save file only, and "Restarting your system and reloading a saved game without cheats will re-enable the achievements/trophies." The GTA IV weather cheat blocked nothing. The GTA IV wanted-level one blocked Walk Free and One Man Army.

One caveat: GTA Wiki is a community wiki, not a Rockstar publication. Rockstar has no support article on GTA IV cheats.

How do GTA V's 1-999 numbers work?

GTA V rebuilt the idea around its own cheat words. PC Gamer's GTA V cheats guide, last updated July 1, 2026, explains that you can "dial any cheat's associated phone number with your in-game phone, regardless of what system you're playing on; the number is generally 1-999 plus the cheat code word equivalent on the keypad." So the GTA V cheat word TURTLE becomes 1-999-887-853 for max health and armor, and TOOLUP becomes 1-999-866-587 for weapons and ammo. Same word, spelled out on a keypad.

A few GTA V cheats exist only as numbers. PC Gamer lists the Duke O'Death at 1-999-3328-4227 and the Kraken submarine at 1-999-282-2537 in GTA V, with no button sequence on any platform. PC Gamer also notes that both GTA V vehicles have to be unlocked in the world first, the Duke O'Death through the Duel random event and the Kraken through the Wildlife Photography Challenge. For those two, dialling was the only entry method.

Where do GTA V phone cheats not work?

On the 2013 consoles, the numbers do nothing. GTABase puts it plainly: "The GTA 5 Phone Cheats were introduced with the Enhanced Edition of GTA 5 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. So the phone cheats are not available on the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions." GTA BOOM's cheat list agrees: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X and S and PC supported, PS3 and Xbox 360 not. On those two consoles, GTA V cheats were controller button sequences or nothing.

PC Gamer's "regardless of what system you're playing on" covers the versions its guide documents. It does not cover the 2013 releases.

GTA BOOM notes a second difference. Unlike GTA IV, GTA V does not store a dialled cheat in the phone. You re-enter the number every time, and the star key on the dial pad redials the last one.

Does a phone in the game mean cheats on the phone?

GTA V is the counterexample. It shipped on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, and the dialled-number method was not part of it. Per GTABase, that method arrived later, with the Enhanced Edition on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The phone was in the game before the cheat numbers were, and the numbers never reached the 2013 consoles.

Some sites argue that because Grand Theft Auto VI is built around a smartphone, the phone will carry a cheat list. Rockstar added the dialling method to GTA V years after that game launched, on some platforms and not others. That is a decision Rockstar made once, about one game. It is not a rule about the next one. Guessing is fine. Publishing the guess as a code table is not.

Are the GTA 6 phone cheats posted online real?

Any site publishing a Grand Theft Auto VI cheat number today invented it or copied it out of GTA V's 1-999 list.

Per GTA Wiki, the most famous codes in San Andreas, HESOYAM among them, were not handed down by Rockstar at all. They were found with a dictionary attack, because "cheat codes were not explicitly given by Rockstar Games themselves in any guide, nor did the game executable contain them." That took a shipped game and hardware players owned. Neither exists yet for Grand Theft Auto VI. The same provenance gap runs through today's GTA VI money cheat claims.

Our GTA V cheat reference list carries the PS5 and Xbox button sequences, every entry badged as GTA V and unverified for GTA VI. The rules behind those badges are set out in how we label and verify cheat references, and the current status of the subject as a whole is in what is verified about GTA VI cheat codes.

Will GTA 6 have phone cheats?

Unknown. Rockstar has made no statement about cheats in Grand Theft Auto VI in either direction, checked September 16, 2026. GTA IV and GTA V both used phone numbers, Red Dead Redemption 2 used typed phrases and a menu, so there is no single series pattern to extrapolate from.

What is the GTA 6 cheat phone number?

There is no such number on record. Rockstar has published none, and players cannot test one in a game that has not shipped. Every number currently attached to Grand Theft Auto VI online is either lifted from GTA V's 1-999 list or made up outright.

Do GTA 5 phone cheat numbers work on PS5?

In GTA V, yes. PC Gamer's guide, updated July 1, 2026, lists the same 1-999 numbers across PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S, Story Mode only. They are GTA V numbers running in GTA V, and say nothing about Grand Theft Auto VI.

When does GTA 6 come out?

Thursday, November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, as shown on rockstargames.com/VI when checked September 16, 2026. It has not moved at any point during 2026. Our GTA VI release date page tracks it.
