GTA 3 cheats that two sources print the same way

GTA 3 cheats are typed words on PC and button sequences on the PlayStation 2, and seven of the best-known ones appear identically in two major cheat references. This page prints only those seven, for Grand Theft Auto III (2001), and nothing else.

We checked every code against two published lists. The PlayStation sequences match between GTABase and GamesRadar. The PC words match between GamesRadar and PC Gamer. GameFAQs refused our fetch, so it is not used here. Where a detail appeared in only one list, we say whose list it came from.

None of this is about GTA VI. Nothing links these codes to the new game, Rockstar has published nothing about cheats in GTA VI, and VI Cheats has verified no GTA VI code. Our GTA 6 cheats status page tracks that separately.

How do you enter cheats in GTA 3 on PC and PS2?

On PC, you type the word while playing. PC Gamer says the codes are not case sensitive and that there is no special place to enter them. Do it in-game, not paused and not in a menu. A message confirms the cheat is on.

On the PlayStation 2, you press the buttons in order during play. GamesRadar adds two cautions for GTA III: the game should not be paused or in a cutscene, and each press still does its normal job while you enter the code.

We write the sequences below with spaces between presses. GamesRadar separates presses with commas and GTABase shows them as button icons; the presses and their order are the same.

GTA III money, health and armor codes

All three codes in this section are for GTA III only.

Money. PS2: R2 R2 L1 L1 Left Down Right Up Left Down Right Up. PC: IFIWEREARICHMAN. Both GTABase and GamesRadar give the amount as $250,000 per use in GTA III.

Health. PS2: R2 R2 L1 R1 Left Down Right Up Left Down Right Up. PC: GESUNDHEIT. It refills health to full. GTABase also says it repairs the vehicle you are driving; we found that note in GTABase's list only.

Armor. PS2: R2 R2 L1 L2 Left Down Right Up Left Down Right Up. PC: TORTOISE.

Compare the fourth press across the three codes: R1 gives health, L2 gives armor and L1 gives cash, while every other press in the sequence is identical.

Is there a god mode cheat in GTA 3?

No such code appears in the full GTA III lists from GamesRadar or PC Gamer. Both list health and armor as two separate cheats, and each one refills a bar rather than making you invincible. If you see a "GTA 3 god mode" code online, neither reference prints it, so treat it as unverified.

GTA III weapons and wanted level codes

These three codes also belong to GTA III alone.

All weapons. PS2: R2 R2 L1 R2 Left Down Right Up Left Down Right Up. PC: GUNSGUNSGUNS. GTABase says it fills ammo for every weapon too.

Raise wanted level. PS2: R2 R2 L1 R2 Left Right Left Right Left Right. PC: MOREPOLICEPLEASE. GamesRadar and GTABase both say it adds two stars.

Lower wanted level. PS2: R2 R2 L1 R2 Up Down Up Down Up Down. PC: NOPOLICEPLEASE. GamesRadar says it clears the wanted level completely.

The all-weapons code and both police codes share the same four opening presses, R2 R2 L1 R2, and differ only in the directional half that follows.

How do you spawn a tank in GTA 3?

Spawn a Rhino tank in GTA III. PS2: Circle Circle Circle Circle Circle Circle R1 L2 L1 Triangle Circle Triangle. PC: GIVEUSATANK. The PS2 version opens with six Circle presses in a row before R1. GamesRadar says the tank appears in front of you.

Should you save before using GTA 3 cheats?

Yes, all three references say so for GTA III. PC Gamer warns that some codes can interfere with missions even after you switch them off, which could stop you finishing the story. GamesRadar says some effects are permanent. GTABase names the riot and attack cheats as two that cannot be turned off, so reloading an earlier save is the fix.

A simple habit follows from that advice: keep one save that has never had a cheat entered, and try codes on a separate slot.

On newer PlayStation releases there is a trophy cost too. GTABase says that on the PS4 and PS5 versions, cheats permanently disable trophies on the current save file. GamesRadar says cheats in more recent versions may disable trophies or achievements.

Do GTA 3 cheats work in the Definitive Edition?

Mostly, according to all three references. PC Gamer marks the seven PC codes on this page as working in the remaster. GamesRadar also lists all seven for the Definitive Edition, and GTABase, GamesRadar and PC Gamer all flag invisible cars as missing from it. GamesRadar adds that the Xbox trigger buttons are swapped in the Definitive Edition compared with the original Xbox release, so Xbox players should not trust muscle memory.

Is there an infinite health cheat in GTA 3?

Nothing suggests they do. These are GTA III codes. Rockstar has published nothing about cheats in GTA VI, and VI Cheats has verified no GTA VI code.

Can you save the game after using cheats in GTA 3?

The references we used advise saving before you enter a cheat, not after, because some effects stick. GamesRadar warns that the pedestrian riot and attack cheats cannot be turned off, so saving after entering one makes the effect permanent. On PS4 and PS5, GTABase says cheats disable trophies on that save file.
